August Land-Based Learning Fundraiser

Announcing the Launch of the August Land-Based Learning Fundraiser!

We need YOUR help to make sure kids have the supplies they need to participate in traditional land-based learning. This is your chance to give back and win big!

Land-based learning happens on the land—in forests, lakes, and traplines. Guided by Elders and Knowledge Keepers, it focuses on experiential education rooted in tradition and relationships with the land, language, spirit, and community. But in Northern Ontario, many Indigenous communities do not have the required funds or equipment that are essential for land-based learning. Together with your help, we want to change that!

The donations we raise will be used to purchase camping, safety, outdoors and creative-focused gear that is essential to land-based learning activities.

Mikinakoos Swag Giveaway - Official Rules, Terms and Conditions

Eligibility

The giveaway is open to legal residents of Canada, excluding Quebec, who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry.
Employees, board members, and their immediate family members are not eligible to win.

Entry Period

The giveaway begins on August 1, 2025 at 12:00 AM ET and ends on August 31, 2025 at 11:59 PM ET.
Entries submitted outside this period will not be eligible.

How to Enter

There are two ways to earn chances to win for the giveaway:

  • Free Entry (REQUIRED): Follow @mikinakoos on Instagram and like the giveaway post.

  • Bonus Entries:

    • Tag up to five friends in the comments of the giveaway post - each friend tagged is an extra chance to win!

    • For each $1 donated to our Land-Based Learning fundraiser during the giveaway period, you will receive one additional entry.

Only one free entry per person is permitted. Up to five bonus entries can be earned by tagging friends in the comments of the giveaway post. There is no limit to the number of bonus entries through donations. No purchase or donation is necessary to win.

Prize

One (1) winner will receive a Mikinakoos swag bundle, including:

  • 1 hoodie

  • 1 t-shirt

  • 1 hat

Approximate retail value: $100 CAD.

Multiple sizes available. The prize is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash. Mikinakoos will cover shipping within Canada.

Winner Selection and Notification

The winner will be selected through a random draw on or around September 1, 2025.
The winner will be contacted via direct message on Instagram or Facebook within 48 hours of the draw.
If the winner does not respond within 48 hours, an alternate winner may be selected.

Privacy

Any personal information collected during the giveaway will only be used for the purpose of administering the giveaway and contacting the winner. It will not be shared or used for other purposes without consent.

Publicity

By entering the giveaway, the winner agrees to allow Mikinakoos to use their first name and/or social media handle for promotional purposes, including on our website and social media platforms.

Limitation of Liability

Mikinakoos is not responsible for any technical issues, lost entries, or other errors that may impact participation in the giveaway. This includes issues related to internet connectivity, platform outages, or third-party services.

Platform Disclaimer

This giveaway is not sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with, Instagram, Facebook, or any other platform.

Right to Cancel or Modify

Mikinakoos reserves the right to cancel, modify, or suspend the giveaway at any time if technical failures, fraud, or other unforeseen circumstances affect its integrity.
